Golden Tempura Batter



  • 1 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/4 cup flour


  1. Beat the egg and water together. Add the flour all at once and beat just until smooth. Let stand 1 hour or refrigerate overnight.
  3. To make:
  4. Heat 2-3 cups of oil in the wok to a temperature of 400 degrees. Total frying time is usually 2 to 4 minutes, depending on thickness. Thinkly sliced should be cooked only 1 minute. If using carrots, cut in thin diagonal slices.
