Bread (1/2 Whole Wheat)

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1 T. yeast
  • 1 T. salt
  • 3/8 c. sugar
  • 3 T. powdered milk
  • 3 T. olive oil
  • 3 c. whole wheat flour
  • 3 c. white bread flour

Directions:

  1. In electric mixer, dissolve yeast, salt, and sugar in warm water. When yeast bubbles, add powdered milk, and using whip attachment, mix until milk is dissolved.
  2. Change to dough hook. Turn the mixer on Low and add oil and then the flours, 1/2 c. at a time. Beat until smooth, soft and elastic, but not sticky.
  3. Cover dough with kitchen towel and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Turn on mixer to punch dough down, then cover and let rise again for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Remove dough from mixer; form into 2 loaves and put in greased bread pans. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  6. Bake in preheated 350º oven for 33 minutes, or until golden brown. Turn out hot bread immediately onto rack.

Servings: Makes 2 loaves.
