Sweet and Sour Pork

 

Ingredients:

Marinade:

  • Marinade:
  • 1/2 T. soy sauce or liquid aminos
  • 1 T. corn starch
  • 1 T. cold water
  • 1 egg yolk

Seasoning sauce

  • 1/4 c. rice vinegar
  • 3/8 c. sugar
  • 3/8 c. catsup
  • 1/2 c. cold water
  • 1 1/2 T. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 t. sesame oil

Other:

  • 1 lb. pork, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1/2 c. cornstarch for coating pork
  • Oil for frying pork

Note: May substitute chicken for the pork.

Directions:

  1. Soak pork in marinade for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cut pepper and drain pineapple.
  3. Make seasoning sauce by combining all ingredients and mixing well.
  4. Heat oil over medium heat; coat each piece of pork in cornstarch.
  5. Fry pork until brown and thoroughly cooked.
  6. Remove pork from pan and drain off all oil.
  7. Put pork back into frying pan; add pepper and pineapple.
  8. Stir fry.
  9. Add seasoning sauce, continuing to stir, until thickened. Serve immediately over hot rice.

Servings: Serves 6.
