Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 2¼ t. active dry yeast
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 2 T. olive oil
  • 1 t. sugar
  • ¼ t. salt
  • 2½ c. white flour

Filling

  • 3 c. mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 30-36 pieces pepperoni

Sauce:

  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 1/2 t. basil
  • 1/2 t. oregano
  • 1/2 t. marjoram
  • 1/2 t. thyme
  • 1/4 t. garlic powder
  • 1/4 t. pepper

Directions:

  1. In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water.
  2. Add the oil, salt and flour, ½ c. at a time, mixing between additions.
  3. Divide dough into 6 pieces.
  4. Combine sauce ingredients in separate bowl.
  5. Roll out each piece of dough into a 7" circle.
  6. Spread sauce in a 6" circle; top with 1/2 c. cheese and 5-6 pieces pepperoni.
  7. Fold circle in half and seal the edges well; set on greased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake in preheated 425º oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Heat extra sauce to serve with calzones.

Servings: Makes 6 large calzones.
