Macaroni and Cheese



  • 3 c. elbow macaroni
  • 1 T. oil
  • Dash of salt
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 c. sharp cheddar cheese, grated


  1. Put 6-8 c. water into large saucepan, and add oil and salt to it.
  2. Bring water to a boil, then add macaroni; cook 20 minutes until noodles are soft.
  3. While noodles are cooking, melt butter over medium heat in large skillet.
  4. When butter is melted, add flour all at once and whisk mixture until smooth.
  5. Add milk slowly, stirring all the while.
  6. Continue stirring sauce, and cook until thickened.
  7. Add cheese and melt.
  8. Drain noodles and add to cheese sauce.

Servings: Serves 4-6.
